China has pledged to continue strengthening the existing educational, economic and cultural exchange programmes with Zambia.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Hang Youming said the continued strong bilateral relations with Zambia were an important dimension of mutual benefit between the two countries.

Mr. Youming has since expressed happiness with the fast growing bilateral economic and trade relations between Zambia and China in the last fifty years.

He was speaking when he officiated at the reception for the award presentation of the essay competition of Zambia China Old Students Association (ZACOSA) in Lusaka last night.

Mr. Youming explained that the essay competition dubbed “My China story” was aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening mutual cooperation between the two countries.

And Mr. Youming disclosed that over 1,000 Zambian students are currently studying in China.

He was happy that the demand for Zambian students to study in that country was growing.

He said China will continue to offer educational support to Zambian students so that they can make positive contribution to the economic development of their country once they return.
