—————— A former freedom fighter has observed that the current in-fighting in both the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) if not resolved have the potential to disturb the peace and unity the country has enjoyed for the past 50 years.

Daniel Chimwala 89 of Kasama has since pleaded with leaders in the two political parties to quickly resolve their differences.

Mr. Chimwala fears that continued leadership wrangles in PF and MMD can be a recipe for anarchy in the country.

He said he has been compelled to comment on the squabbles in the two political parties because he does not want the country to be subjected to the pre-independence troubles.

The former freedom fighter revealed that there is need for people to preserve the peace which a lot of people sacrificed for during the struggle.

Mr. Chimwala also urged youths to desist from being used as instruments of violence during the fourth coming Presidential bye-election.

He said youths should instead engage themselves in activities that will help boost the economy of Zambia.

The former freedom fighter also appealed to churches in the country to continue praying for peace and unity in the country.

He urged the churches to take the political situation in Zambia seriously and ask for God’s intervention.
