A good road network important for national development — Lungu

Mongu, 13th December, 2014, ZANIS —- THE Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu says  a good road network plays an important role in the development of a country’s economy.

Mr. Lungu says once roads are constructed, goods and services will be transported to all parts of the country without difficulties hence contribute lower prices of commodities.

 

He said this will eventually improve the lives of many people including those in rural areas.

ZANIS reports that the PF president was speaking during a public rally at Mulambwa grounds in Mongu of Western Province, yesterday.

He further urged the people of Western province to vote for the Patriotic Front whose role is to ensure that investment reaches all the parts of the country compared to the past when development was only seen in urban areas.

He said that the PF was  currently working on clearing canals to enable farmers conduct their fish farming without difficulties and also ease transport to those who normally use canoes during the flood season.

And speaking at the same rally, Sports and Youth Minister Chishimba Kabwili said next year the Youth Empowerment Fund will be increased to 29 billion Kwacha from 19 billion kwacha so that many youths can access the fund.

Mr. Kambwili also disclosed that the construction of the Mongu Stadium which was suspended due to economic reasons will soon commence.

Speaking earlier, Agriculture Minister Wilber Simusa said the Patriotic Front will next year revive cattle rearing through opening many centres for cattle restocking exercise.
