The opposition Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) in Northern Province has maintained that they will not allow former Republican President Rupiah Banda to cause confusion in the party.
MMD Northern Province Publicity and Information Secretary Cephas Bwalya has told QFM News in a telephone interview that the country wide campaigns that Mr. Banda has embarked on will not hold any water.

Mr. Bwalya stresses that party members in the province are extremely disappointed to see how eager Mr. Banda is to grab the position of presidency from Nevers Mumba.
Mr. Bwalya explains that general membership in the province does not support Mr. Banda’s political come back because it is unacceptable.
He notes that MMD members consider Dr. Mumba as the former ruling party’s sole candidate to contest the 2015 presidential election.
