Incorporate ruling councillors in programmes – Kalabo DC
Kalabo, Nov 29/14, ZANIS——Kalabo District Commissioner, Masela Chinyama, has advised government Heads of Departments to incorporate ruling party councillors in developmental programmes to be implemented in their wards as they are the custodians of party policies.
Mrs Chinyama said it was imperative that government departments bring on board councillors on any programme they wish to implement so that they could have an input on what was going on in the ward and would be in a better position to know where assistance was most needed.
The District Commissioner was speaking yesterday during the District Development Coordinating (DDCC) meeting held in the Council Chamber.
She emphasized the need to never by-pass ruling party councillors in any programme that a government department wished to implement in the ward, saying as doing so was not an ideal thing to do.
Mrs Chinyama, however, said the appeal should not be mistaken for politics but as a way of putting them on board.
Mrs Chinyama told the civil servants to ignore opposing councillors that would resist the call but to continue in implementing government developmental programmes.
