PF officials in Mbala District have endorsed the candidature of Edgar Lungu ahead of this weekend’s general conference.
Party Mbala District chairperson Matilda Makungo and constituency youth Chairperson Ackim Simukoko disclosed the development shortly after a joint meeting between Senga and Mbala Central constituencies held this morning.
Ms Makungo said the decision to back Mr Lungu, who is also Defence and Justice Minister, was arrived at after analyzing his leadership skills.
But speaking during a live paid for solidarity programme, for Presidential aspirant Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, PF Mulilansolo ward councilor Abraham Mulenga claimed that the general membership in Northern Province has reconciled and decided to rally behind GBM at the convention.
Those contesting the PF presidency are; former first lady, Christine Kaseba, Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili, Defence and Justice Minister Edgar Lungu.
Others are Matero MP Miles Sampa, Ambassador Seleman Banda, Kasama Central MP, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Commerce Minister Robert Sichinga, Nchanga MP Wylbur Simuusa and former Foreign Affairs minister Given Lubinda.
