–Government says it has created an enabling environment for partners and other stakeholders in the provision of services to communities in the country.

Kafue Member of Parliament (MP), Obvious Mwaliteta, who is also Central Province Minister, expressed happiness that NGOs like Child Development Agency are supplementing government’s efforts in capacity building and providing social services to the communities in the district and the nation at large.

ZANIS reports that Mr Mwaliteta was speaking in a speech read for him by Kafue District Council Chairperson, Gibson Sinkala, during the handover of a water project in Kafue’s Zambia Compound.

He added that his office will continue to support programmes meant to uplift the livelihood of the vulnerable people in the district.

Speaking earlier, Child Fund Zambia National Director, Dereje Adugna, said no single person should have sole responsibility of child care and development.

Mr Adugna said this in a speech read on his behalf by his representative, Godwin Nsofu.

He said his company is happy to be recognized as a major player in child development.

Mr Adugna said it is one of his company’s objectives to ensure that children become prime agents of their own growth and development.

Kafue Child Development Agency has since handed over eleven boreholes in Solobon and Zambia Compounds to Kafue district council.
