ERB launches Filling stations scoring criteria

Lusaka, November 14, 2014, ZANIS….The Energy regulation Board Executive (ERB) Director, Langiwe Lungu, says her firm has stepped up measures to ensure that service filling stations comply with the regulations governing oil marketing company.

Ms Lungu said ERB will ensure that the matter of grading  filling stations is done based on the level of compliance.

She said this today   at Total filling station in Kalingalinga in Lusaka during the launch of the filling stations scoring criteria in Lusaka.

The ERB Executive director said the main objectives of grading filling stations will be an information tool to all stakeholders who are consumers as well as motivating the licenses to improve the stake of infrastructure at their respective sites.

Ms Lungu stated that the grading system will be implemented in phases with the first phase covering Lusaka Livingstone, Kitwe and Ndola before rolling out to other parts of the country.

She said the system will not apply to filling stations that are situated within a radius if 50 Kilometres from the nearest operating filling station.

Ms Lungu praised Total filling station for the best services it is offering to consumers, saying   the filling station meets at least 90 per cent of critical aspects in the manual.

She said the board will not hesitate to close down those filling stations under Grade F due to technical anomalies that hinge on the safety and product quality or compliance.
