014 Africa player of the year nominees announced

—The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced nominees for 2014 African Player of the Year and the 2014 African Player of the Year Based in Africa.

 

And no Zambian player has been shortlisted on the nominee list for the 2014 African Player of the Year and the 2014 African Player of the Year Based in Africa category.

 

Twenty five players have been nominated for the topmost Player of the Year, and 20 for the Player of the Year Based in Africa category.

 

This is according to the CAF webpage and monitored by ZANIS Sports in Lusaka today.

 

Ahmed Musa and Vincent Enyeama of Nigeria, Asamoah Gyan of Ghana, Emmanuel Adebayor of Togo and Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast are among the top contenders for the 2014 Africa Player of the year awards.

 

The winners of the two categories will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF at the Awards Gala which will take place on January 8, 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

 

Ivorian Yaya Toure was crowned African Player of the Year for the past three years whilst Mohamed Aboutreika of Egypt was named African Player of the Year Based in Africa in 2013.
