Lightning burns two Lukulu houses to ashes

Lukulu, November  6,  2014, ZANIS… .Lightning has struck two houses in Lukulu district in the Western province burning them to ashes following a heavy down pour of rain on Tuesday.

ZANIS reports that one of the victims Febian Chinyama of Mumbanyo village in Ngimbu area confirmed the development in an interview.

Mr Chinyama said lightning hit into the pole of his grass thatched roof of his house which immediately caught fire.

Mr. Chinyama disclosed that goods worth K2, 500 and maize which was in the storage were all burnt to ashes adding that only a few clothes for his children were retrieved from the house.

And another house belonging to a Ms Nyambe of Chihongo area was also burnt at the same time.

Eye witness Denies Chimponge said nothing was rescued from the house and hence it was difficult to estimated the total cost of goods that were burnt as there was no one at the house when the lightning struck and burnt the house.

The two victims have since appealed to the well-wishers to help them in any way as they have lost everything they owned.

Lukulu district experienced heavy rains on Tuesday afternoon which lasted for about an hour.
