The Muslim Association in the Eastern province has donated assorted items to help facilitate the Independence Golden Jubilee celebrations which climaxes this Friday on 24th October.

The Association made the donation of lime, paint, paint brushes, mealie meal, chickens and other items  this morning following  a request from Provincial Permanent Secretary Chileshe Mulenga.

Ayub Daya, Samueer Adam and Ayub Mogra made the donation on behalf of the Association.

And receiving the donation Eastern province Permanent Secretary Chileshe Mulenga commended the Muslim Association for its continued support towards government developmental programmes.

Dr. Mulenga noted that the Association had helped government especially in the water and sanitation sector in community schools in the province.

He advised other organizations to emulate the gesture by the Muslim Association.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Independence Golden Jubilee have advanced as various activities to commemorate the celebrations have started in the district.

On Saturday, the province held interdenominational prayers at St. Annes Cathedral while Inter school debates will be held to discuss the liberation struggle at Chipata School of Education.

On Thursday this week, there will be various performances in the evening where hoisting of the flag will also be done while fireworks will be displayed at various points in Chipata at midnight to signify the dawn of independence.
