Cyclist in Mongu dies on the spot after being hit by a speeding truck

Mongu-ZANIS-October 3, 2014, ZANIS —- – A 34 year old cyclist of Mongu District in Western Province died on the spot after being  hit by a truck  near Alushengé niti Guest House along chitimukulu road.

Western Province Commissioner of Police Lombe Kamukoshi  confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS in Mongu District, today.

 

Ms. Kamukoshi who identified the man as Bright Mizhi Kashweka aged 42 of Mongu district said the road accident happened yesterday around 13:00hrs.

She said the truck driver is Nathan Nawa aged 34 of Nambulu Village of Mongu District in Western Province who was driving a Saura Berna truck, of  registration number 1685.

 

The commissioner of Police said Mizhi Kashweka sustained serious injuries and was admitted in Lewanika General Hospital’s intensive care unit were he died this morning around 03 hours.

 

Meanwhile the driver has been arrested for careless driving and will appear in court soon whilst the body of the deceased is lying in Lewanika General Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
