Muchinga blood center gets vehicle

Chinsali, 16 September, 2014, ZANIS…The Zambia National Blood Transfusion Service (ZNBTS) has donated a motor vehicle to Muchinga Provincial Blood Center.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in Chinsali today, Muchinga Deputy Permanent Secretary Davy Chanda said the occasion marks yet another important milestone in the efforts towards establishing the necessary capacities and services needed for the new province.

Mr Chanda said Government places significant importance to the health sector aimed at improving the health of all Zambians.

The DPS added that the unprecedented transport infrastructure development across the country which among other things is expected to improve the referral system is another mammoth development taken by Government in order to enhance access to health care.

Mr. Chanda said this was why Government since 1992 has continued to implement broad – based health sector reforms in order to attain equity of access to quality and cost-effective health services as close as possible to the family.

Mr Chanda added that the Toyota land cruiser donated to the Provincial Blood Center will help improve blood supply to hospitals in the province.

He further commended and thanked the Ministry of Health (MoH) and ZNBTS for the shot in the arm.

And speaking at the same event, Provincial Medical Officer for Muchinga Francis Bwalya expressed gratitude at the strong partnership  established with the ZNBTS.

Dr Bwalya revealed that ZNBTS will also provide blood storage and transportation cold chain equipment to Chinsali and Chilonga

hospitals.

He further disclosed that chilonga hospital has been earmarked to be designated as a satellite blood storage and distribution center.

Meanwhile, ZNBTS delegation team Leader delegation David Chama said the vehicle had been donated by co-operating partner Global funds.
