Govt concerned about high levels of poverty – Sichinga

Government says it is concerned that despite Zambia being a rich country in terms of natural resources, poverty is still high.
Speaking shortly before flagging off the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) diary program located 40 Kilometres east of Makeni today, Commerce Trade and Industry Minister Robert Sichinga says government has developed a program to develop industries in rural areas so as to create jobs.

Mr. Sicinga says it is in this regard that government has tasked CEEC and Zambia development Agency to spearhead the development in rural areas.

Mr. Sichinga explains that CEEC is supporting the development of value chain clusters in each province every year.

He states that the objective is to create eleven thousand jobs in rural areas.

And speaking ealier CEEC director general likando mukubuta has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to ensuring that the program is sustainable.
