A VISITING delegation of farmers and agricultural experts from Argentina and Uruguay says Zambia has the potential to feed Africa and the world because of its sound agricultural policies, good climate and geographical location.
Leader of the 35-man delegation Enrique Erize said with the world population increasing and in need of food, Zambia could play an important role in ensuring food security.
“Zambia is the future of agriculture in Africa and the potential of Zambia is important for the world. The population is growing and we will increase to nine billion in the next few years. That is why Zambia should contribute significantly to food production over the next few years,” he said.
Mr Erize said this when the farmers, toured Zambeef Products Plc. in Chisamba on Saturday.
The farmers who are in the country under the auspices of the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) to explore investment opportunities and learn about what Zambia is doing to enhance the agriculture sector, also toured the Mkushi farm block.
The farmers also visited agricultural projects in South Africa before coming to Zambia.
