-Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary (PS), Felix Nkulukusa has commended Measure Evaluation for the technical and financial support rendered to government institutions over the years through the provision of reliable, accurate and timely data.

Measure Evaluation is a US-based organization that has helped the Zambian government in collection and compiling of the necessary data on sexual behaviour surveys, population census, routine surveys and capacity building for over a decade now since 1998.

Mr Nkulukusa, who is In-charge of Economic Management and Finance, observes that government alone cannot manage and there was need for cooperating partners to complement it.

The PS said this in Lusaka today when he opened a Measure Evaluation Collaboration Close-out phase-III.

Mr Nkulukusa, however, challenged the US Government through President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to re-continue the Zambia Sexual Behaviour Survey that was discontinued in order to benefit the Zambian people.

And US Government Representative, George Velasco, pledged to continue working with the Zambian government.

Mr Velasco said Measure Evaluation, working closely with the Central Statistical Office, University Teaching Hospital and the University of Zambia, would scale up its efforts in ensuring that collected data, which is threatening the lives of the people, should be reduced.

He said Zambia has made positive strides in addressing threatening indicators especially in the health sector.
