Attorney General Musa Mwenye has pledged to live up to the expectations of the support and confidence placed in him to be appointed as government’s new legal advisor.

Mr. Mwenye says he is particularly grateful of his appointment and the confidence that has be shown in him by the Law Association of Zambia(LAZ), Parliament and other sectors of society that have support his appointment.

Mr. Mwenye, who before his appointment was the country’s Solicitor General, has told Qfm news in an interview that he is also mindful that when confidence has been placed in an individual as is the case with him, one does not set out to disappoint anyone.

He says it is his hope that in dispensing his duties as government legal advisor, he will give advice in the accordance with the law and the country’s constitution.

Asked how he will consider advice given to him by the LAZ that he advises government correctly on the application of the Public Order Act, Mr. Mwenye declined to comment saying he needs to settle down first as he has just been appointed.

LAZ president George Chisanga had recently told Qfm news in an interview that his association also hopes that the newly appointed Attorney General will also advise government on the terms of reference under which the Technical Committee on the drafting of the constitution has been working.
