Govt warns against abusing empowerment funds

Chisamba, July 1,2014, ZANIS —  Chisamba District Commissioner Ferdinand Chipindi says  it is the Patriotic Front (PF) government‘s duty to ensure that people were liberated from economic slavery.

And Chief Chamuka of the Lenje speaking people advised the women to provide top quality service and make guidelines on how the money would be shared.

Mr Chipindi says the PF government recognizes the role that women play in economic development hence the donation of a Hammer Mill.

He said this when he officiated at the donation of  a Hammer Mill to Lumuno Women’s club of Chief Chamuka in Chisamba District , today.

However, Mr Chipindi warned the villagers against politicizing the Hammer Mill and encouraged them to use it for the intended purpose.

He added that anyone found personalizing government property would be arrested.

“What is for the government is for the government if you are found personalizing it, you will be arrested, I don’t want to hear that other people have being stopped from using the Hammer mill because they are not PF” said Chipindi.

The District Commissioner advised women against hoarding money and encouraged them to open an account for the business. He further appealed to women who had not formed clubs to emulate Lumuno Women’s Club in order for them to get the benefits from the government.

“Government will not help you if you are alone, form Clubs and you will be helped by the government” said Chipindi.

And Chief Chamuka of the Lenje speaking people advised the women to provide top quality service and make guidelines on how the money would be shared.

The Chief also said there was need for the women to find a way of sustaining their business and ensuring continuity.

He however thanked the Patriotic Front for supporting his chiefdom adding that it had received development not only through community support services but that a number of schools had being built.
