Two minors aged six and seven years of the same family have allegedly been defiled by unknown persons in Kitwe’s Zambia Compound Residential area.
Copperbelt Commissioner of Police Joyce Kasosa confirmed the incident in an interview with ZANIS in Kitwe.
Ms Kasosa said the incident occurred on June 18, this year, between 19 and 21:00 hours near an anthill in Zambia Compound.
She said the mother to the victims discovered that her daughters had been defiled when she noticed puss coming out of one of her daughter’s private parts as she was bathing her.
The mother then reported the matter to the police who advised to have the girls examined at the hospital.
Police have since opened a docket although no arrests have been made.
Ms Kasosa appealed to the public with information to help police apprehend the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, Police in Kitwe have picked up a body of a 50-year old woman also in Zambia Compound at a farm in Garneton area suspected to have been raped before being murdered.
She said the woman’s naked body was picked up on June 20, and had a deep cut on the left side of her head.
Ms Kasosa said the woman’s body is lying in Kitwe Central Hospital mortuary and police have launched investigations into the murder.
