DEC nabs Kafue businessman with fake US$167,000

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested a 39 year old businessman of Kafue for allegedly being in possession of over US$160,000 counterfeit notes.


Bornwell Simbeye, 39, a businessman of Kafue District has been arrested for being found with fake US$167,800.


DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo told ZANIS in a statement that the suspect was apprehended in Kafue Town.


Meanwhile, the Commission arrested and jointly charged a Teacher of Lusaka and a businessman of Livingstone for being in possession of counterfeit Zambian Kwacha and US dollar notes.


Ms Katongo identified the suspects as Francis Nondo, 42, a teacher of house no. C/16 Chinika area in Lusaka and Chibuluma Bwalya, 29,  a businessman of Livingstone.
The duo were intercepted in the Central Business District of Lusaka and found with K26, 000 and US$400 counterfeit notes.


Ms Katongo said all the three suspects will appear in court soon.
