Open Society Foundation (OSF) says it is the expectation of every Zambian that Parliamentarians will be able to persuade Government to re-introduce the mining windfall tax as the house resumes sitting tomorrow, June 17th.

OSF Executive Director Sunday Chanda has told QFM News in an interview that the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) made a commitment to the Zambian people while in opposition that they will introduce the windfall tax.

Mr. Chanda says Members of Parliament should not allow themselves to be intimidated when it comes to performing their duties as representatives of the people.

He adds that Parliamentarians should also raise the momentum in the house on the urgency of a new constitution.

He says there is also need for parliament to amend the Public Order Act by removing the amendments the MMD had introduced after the ruling in the Christine Mulundika case.

Mr. Chanda has further called for the tabling of the access to information Bill, stating that Journalists are operating under very difficult situations in the absence of the information law.
