-Government has commissioned four classroom blocks at four primary schools that have been upgraded from community to regular primary schools in chief Kaingu’s chiefdom in Itezhi Tezhi district in central province.
The four one by two classroom blocks are among the new classroom blocks built in the district through the constituency development fund (CDF).
The classroom blocks have replaced the mad and pole and grass thatched classrooms that were easily damaged by rains.
Speaking at the commissioning of the school at Namaula, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security Rayford Mbulu said that government was committed to improving education in the country as enshrined in the Patriotic Front (PF) manifesto.
Mr. Mbulu said that government has priotised provision of quality education that is accessible, inclusive, equitable and relevant.
“Government through CDF has funded and completed the construction of classroom blocks at Batunga, Kaingu, kasankwa and Namaula Primary schools. These are all 1×2 classroom blocks” Mr. Mbulu said.
Mr. Mbulu said that government has also upgraded two more primary schools to secondary schools in Itezhi Tezhi district.
He named the upgraded schools as Shimbuwambombo in Lubanda ward in chief Shimbizhi’s chiefdom and Nansenga in Nyambo ward in chief Muwezwa’s chiefdom.
And speaking earlier Chief Kaingu of the Ila people of Itezhi Tezhi district said that he was happy with development that is taking place in Itezhi Tezhi district.
He said that construction of schools was important and that education was important as a tool for reducing poverty in the country.
“PF Government is action-oriented and we have seen it for ourselves. What other governments failed to do since independence we have seen it within a short period of time that the current government has been in power’Chief Kaingu said.
He also said that the construction of the hydroelectric power plant and the D769 road are also a clear testimony of the government’s commitment to develop the once neglected district.
The chief pledged to support the government to ensure development continued in the district.
And one of the pupils at the school Abel Munsaka thanked government for constructing a modern school in their area.
“It was extremely hard to learn under dilapidated mad and pole and grass thatched classrooms. This new classroom block is a dream come true. We are also sure that our dreams of becoming future leaders will be achieved.’Munsaka said.
