Police in Solwezi have re-arrested two convicts for theft of a motor vehicle and various household goods.

The two were convicted by Solwezi magistrate court last year for similar charges and are currently serving community service sentences.

North-western Province Commissioner of Police, Eugene Sibote, confirmed the arrest of Evans Kashimoto, aged 21, and Steven Mwanamoya, 31, to ZANIS in Solwezi today.

Mr Sibote said the motor vehicle, a legacy Subaru, was stolen from the house where it was parked in the afternoon over the weekend.

The convicts also stole K3, 000 cash, laptops, cameras and other electric appliances from various places.

He said police recovered the vehicle at a wedding where Kashimoto had hired it out after a tip off from members of the public.

Mr Sibote said Kashimoto and Mwanamoya have been behind a spate of robberies in Solwezi.
