A 70 year old man of Nyambe Village in Liuwa Plain National Park has been shot dead a few days after a Zambia Wildlife Authority Park Ranger was shot dead in the same area.

Both Kalabo District Commissioner Masela Chinyama and Police Officer- in- Charge Kim Masambo confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kalabo today.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning between 03:00 and 04:00 hours.

Mrs Chinyama who identified the deceased as Felix Liyuyuma and explained that the circumstances under which he was shot were not clear but Police have since picked up his son to help with investigations.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was allegedly shot dead by his son on witchcraft suspicions.

The body of the deceased is lying in Kalabo District Hospital Mortuary awaiting burial.

In another development police have found the body of a 26-year-old man floating on the Luanginga River in Kamonga village in Kalabo district.

Police suspect foul play and have since instituted investigations.
