Katongo was reportedly wanted by Pirates, but Chippa Mpengesi have since confirmed that the striker will join his club on a two-year deal

Chippa United are on the verge of signing Orlando Pirates target and striker Chris Katongo, who is expected to put pen to paper at the beginning of next week.
The Zambian forward was reportedly on Bucs radar towards the end of last season, with various media houses suggesting that the deal was already done.
However, Chippa Mpengesi has now confirmed that the former Jomo Cosmos marksman will join his club on his return from Zambia tour next Monday.
“Katongo is happy with our offer and he looks forward to playing for us for two years,” Mpengesi was quoted in The Sowetan. “He’s the kind of striker we have been looking for. He’s capable of keeping defenders on their toes with his incredible strength and amazing speed,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys are reportedly close to announcing the signing of Kostadin Papic as their new head coach.
Papic parted ways with National First Division (NFD) side Black Leopards on Wednesday night, and he was set to be unveiled today (Thursday) until the club decided to postpone the press conference.
The Mother City outfit were initially interested in bringing in Steve Komphela from Maritzburg United, but the deal hit a snag, with the Team of Choice not willing to release their head coach.
