More foreigners including a Chinese nabbed over Timber

Three foreigners and a Zambian have been arrested in connection with illegal timber trade in Central Province.
This comes barely few days when another Chinese nationals and a Zambian were nabbed for the same offence.
Those arrested today are a Tanzanian, a Somalian and a Chinese.
Serenje District Commissioner Charles Mwelwa has confirmed the news to ZNBC.
Mr. Mwelwa says quartet was arrested after an operation by the Police in the area.
He adds that the Police found a 30 tonne truck laden with Mukula logs destined for Da-ra-salaam Tanzania in readiness for export.

And Mr Mwelwa adds that a further search revealed documents with names of people involved and trucks that were suppose to load the timber in the area.
He further adds that Police also found the Zambia Revenue Authority –ZRA seal on the logs with intent to dupe the authority at the boarder and Police check points.
Mr Mwelwa says he has, like the minister of Lands Mwansa Kapeya declared war against illegal timber dealers.
