Government has maintained that Non-Governmental organizations (NGOs) that will not register under the 2009 NGO Act number 16 will be deregistered.

Community Development Mother and Child Health Minister Emerine Kabanshi says most NGO’s have applied to register and so far about 280 NGOs applications have been processed.

Ms. Kabanshi has told QFM News that it is important for NGOs to register because the registration is for their own good and not to harm them.

She says Non-Governmental Organizations should work with government because they are partners in serving the people.

Ms Kabanshi has since implored NGOs that have not yet registered under the NGO Act to do so in order for them to continue to operate.

Government has extended the registration period for NGOs by sixty days effective 4th February to 5th May 2014.
