The National Union for Commercial and Industrial Workers has charged that there is nothing to celebrate about the Zambia’s 50 years of independence.

Union President, Robert Munsanje said that there a number of issues which government need to address such as the imposed wage freeze and the fate of the fired nurses before celebrating the country’s jubilee.

Mr. Munsanje also noted that the removal of subsidies has negatively affected the economic growth of the nation.
He has since bemoaned the increase in poverty levels, adding that some families can no longer have three meals in a day.
