Nakonde on stand still due to heavy traffic

— Business at Nakonde border in Muchinga province has come to a standstill as vehicles cannot pass from Tunduma border town in Tanzania into Zambia.

The flow of traffic has been affected by a bad portion of the road on the great north road at Illendela and green farm area.

Nakonde district commissioner James Singoyi who confirmed the development to the Zambia news and information services (ZANIS) in Chinsali District today.

 

Mr. Singoyi said there are over 200 vehicles among them buses which are stuck at the two bad portions.

He said there is an urgent need to work on the two bad portions of the road so as to allow the free flow of traffic.

Mr. Singoyi said the current situation was bad because there are also fuel tankers which are stuck in the traffic.

Meanwhile, Muchinga Deputy Permanent Secretary Davy Chanda and officials from the disaster management and mitigation unit have rushed to Nakonde District to access the situation.
