Transport and Communications Minister, Yamfwa Mukanga, says it is unacceptable for Zambia to continue loosing huge sums of money to finance foreign expertise in the construction sector when the country has engineers who can take up the challenge.

Speaking in Lusaka last evening when he hosted engineers, Mr. Mukanga says the country is losing a lot of money through paying foreign experts to carry out construction works in the country.

Mr. Mukanga says engineers have a huge responsibility to transform the newly created districts and ensure that they are linked to the whole nation.

Mr. Mukanga has challenged engineers throughout the country to develop and improve mining firms by providing quality infrastructure.

The Transport Minister states that proper water network supply is inevitable to improve the living standards of the people especially in the newly created districts.

Mr. Mukanga furthermore states that government is relying on engineers to ensure that the objects set in developing the nation are met.

He has also emphasized that engineers are the center of economic development in the country.
