NKANA striker Ronald Kampamba has been declared 100 percent fit to face Uganda champions Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) while defender Christopher Munthali is in a race against time for Saturday’s clash.
Coach Masauso Mwale said in an interview that Nkana was treating Munthali’s situation with caution after the Chipolopolo defender pulled out of training on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the 2014 CAF Champions League first round, first leg tie at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
“He has an injury and he is taking it easy. We believe it is a hamstring injury but he tried very hard to train but couldn’t finish. I cannot tell now if he will play, I have Wednesday morning and afternoon to look at home. We shall wait and see,” Mwale.
And Mwale said he was delighted to see Kampamba back in action after missing the Charity Shield final due to a shoulder injury but played down the prospect of Bruce Musakanya facing KCCA after returning to full first team training this week following a month on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, KCCA arrived in the country yesterday via Lusaka and were expected to make a connection flight to Ndola late in the evening.
KCCA captain Fahad Kawooya said in an interview at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) that his team come to beat Nkana and advised the Kitwe side to brace themselves for a tough game from a side that eliminated a highly rated El Merreikh in the preliminary round.
And striker Tony Odur warned Nkana defenders to be on the on look out as he had come to score goals that would eliminate them from the competition.
