Govt commended for its continued efforts in delivering education services

Shiwangandu, February 26th, 2014, ZANIS— Mayembe ward councillor in Shiwangandu district of Muchinga province Moffat Mutale has commanded government for its continued efforts of delivering education in the district.

Mr. Mutale says a number of community schools in the district have been upgraded into primary schools, adding that the venture has helped in intensifying the delivery to rural areas.

He said this in an interview with ZANIS Shiwangandu today.

Mr. Mutale said among the community schools which have been upgraded into primary schools are include Nabutenda primary school and Bubende primary schools among others.

The councillor lamented over the poor teaching environment and inadequate infrastructure in the area.

Mr. Mutale said the community has managed to build a one by two classroom block which has not yet been completed due to lack of building materials.

He therefore called on the government to help the school with building materials so that the building can be completed.

Mr. Mutale further appealed to government to build infrastructure at Lakalashi primary school which is also in his ward, for the reason that the schools are in a deplorable condition.

He added that the appalling schools have greatly affected the pupils in the sense that the pupils do not have lessons each time it rains.

Earlier on the district education board secretary, Anne Mutambo disclosed to ZANIS in an interview that government will soon embark on building infrastructure in schools that are grass thatched.
