Manhunt launched for wife murderer in  Chipata

 

Chipata, February 3, 2014, ZANIS…..Police in Chipata have launched a manhunt for a man who alleged to have murdered his wife after an outing last Sunday.

 

And police have found a body of an 18 year old man in an unused shop at a market in Chipata district.

 

Eastern Division Police Commissioner Grace Chipalila confirmed the development during a media briefing in Chipata district today.

 

She said that the deceased, Evelina Phiri 36 of Chaola village in Chief Mpezeni’s area  is said to have differed with her husband David Soko after the two engaged into a physical confrontation.

 

Mrs Chipalila said  the case of assault was reported to the police but Phiri who was earlier rushed to Mwami Adventist Hospital on Saturday was referred to Chipata General Hospital where she later died.

 

She disclosed that the deceased was found with a swollen head and was bleeding from the mouth.

 

And police have found a body of an 18 year old man in an unused shop at a market in Chipata district.

 

Mrs Chipalila said the body of Chimwemwe Phiri which was dumped at Maferrendum market and that police have since launched a manhunt.

 

In a related development police in Lundazi are investigating a matter in which a 35 year old man  is accused of murdering his 17 year old brother.

 

Mrs Chipalila said the two brothers are reported to have differed after which a physical fight ensued where Medson Nyirenda was hit with a stick by his elder brother Mabvuto aged between 30 and 35.

 

She stated that Medson was unconscious with a deep cut on the left side of his head; he was rushed to Malanga rural health centre where he later died.

 

She stated that the body of the deceased is at Lundazi District Hospital awaiting postmortem while Mabvuto is on the run.

 

Meanwhile, Police picked up a body of a middle age at Kapata market that is suspected to have been beaten to death.

 

Mrs Chipalila said the body of the man only known as Davy bled from the nose and mouth.

 

She stated that his body is lying in Chipata General Hospital awaiting postmortem.

 

Mrs Chipalila has since cautioned people in the habit of engaging in mob justice by taking the law in their own hands that police will ruthless deal with them.

 

And a Zesco employee of Lundazi district died after being electrocuted while on duty.

 

Mrs Chipalila said Wilson Sinyinda 23 met his fate as he was connecting power to a shop in Chief Mwase’s area.

 

Meanwhile, Mrs Chipalila disclosed that a 42 year old has drowned in Lundazi River over the weekend.

 

Mrs Chipalila said Daniel Mutonga of Kaluba compound is reported to have drowned after a drinking spree at a place near Chiulu compound.

 

She stated that the body was discovered around 13:30 hours on Saturday and that police suspect no foul play.

 

She said that police suspect no foul play and that the body has since been buried.
