Zambia National Education Coalition (ZANEC) says government should consider the aspect of availability of learning and teaching materials in trying to establish what led to the poor performance of Grade nine pupils in 2013.

ZANEC Director public relations, Hillary Chipango has told Qfm News that learning and teaching materials are key to the quality and good performance of pupils.

Mr. Chipango notes that the teaching fraternity must be motivated with enough teaching material if they are to continue doing a better job.

He notes that the poor performance by the Grade nine pupils also is due to their failure to study hard hoping that they could use exam leakages to make it to grade ten.

Mr. Chipango who has also welcomed the move by the ministry of Education to establish factors that led to the poor performance of Grade nine pupils has urged government to call for a consultative meeting of all stakeholders in establishing factors that led to the poor results.

He has further appealed to pupils to take education seriously for their own good stating that education is the key to a brilliant future.
