Bwalya Ng’andu is new Communications PS

President Michael Sata has appointed Bank of Zambia Deputy Governor of Bank of Zambia Bwalya Ng’andu as Permanent Secretary (PS) on the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications.

 

Mr. Sata, who swore in Dr. Ng’andu this morning at State House, has since implored the new Permanent Secretary to uphold the oath of the Zambian constitution during his discharge of duties.

 

He told Dr. Ng’andu to tell critics of the new constitution that he was sworn in as Permanent Secretary using the existing constitution.

 

The President wondered why some sections of society were complaining about the constitution when the country has used the existing law in six general elections.

 

“Go and tell them you took oath under the constitution. We have a constitution and we have had six elections over this constitution. So the people talking about the constitution, we don’t know about it,” he said.

 

President Sata’s remarks over the constitution follow the confrontational stance taken by unnamed civil society organizations (CSOs) and other stakeholders pushing government to release the final draft constitution soon.

 

And speaking to journalists shortly after being sworn in, Dr. Ng’andu said his first task will be to identify developmental priorities in the ministry.

Dr. Ng’andu served as Bank of Zambia deputy governor until his appointment as PS in the ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication s.
