Opposition New Revolutionary Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba has called on the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) administration to continue with the development programmes it was carrying out across the country.

Dr. Mumba said the current government was on track in terms of implementing the election promises the PF made to the Zambian people before assuming office.

He said this yesterday when he introduced Shakespeare Mwakamui at Kapopo as the NRP candidate for the Katuba parliamentary by-election slated for February 25, 2014.

Dr. Mumba, who was accompanied by his vice president for politics Kelly Walubita Junior, said given enough time to develop Zambia, the PF government would meet all the aspirations of the Zambian people.

He also paid a courtesy call on Chieftainess Mungule of the Lenje people of Central Province.

And the adopted candidate for the Katuba parliamentary by-election, Shakespeare Mwakamui appealed to the people of Katuba to be careful as they vote during the forthcoming by-elections.

Mr. Mwakamui, who spoke in Lenje, said there was a lot that needed to be done in Katuba constituency in terms of developing the area.

The NRP candidate, who is a retired senior police officer, a farmer and businessman, said once voted as Member of Parliament for Katuba, he would work hard to improve the constituency and continue where the late Dr. Patrick Chikusu left.
