Poor service delivery angers DC

Chipata, January 14, 2014, ZANIS……Chipata District Commissioner Kalunga Zulu has castigated the Chipata Municipal council for failure to coordinate with his office in improving service delivery.

Mr. Zulu says it was unfortunate that the council has not been coordinating well with the district administration despite the two offices being key in fostering development in the district.

Speaking when he addressed heads of government departments at his office, Mr. Zulu said inefficiency by the local authority will have a negative impact on the public.

Mr. Zulu noted that it was for this reason that the two offices should work together in enhancing development for the benefit of the public.

He explained that there is a lot that the district administration and the council can do to help improve service delivery.

The DC further disclosed that he has since written to the Permanent Secretary to complain about the issue.

Meanwhile, Mr. Zulu has warned civil servants in the district to be committed to duty and serve the public with a passion.

He said there is need for all government workers to be serious in and improve their service delivery, adding that they have a mandate to represent and explain government programmes to the masses.

He noted that there were a lot of developmental projects that government had embarked on that needed to be highlighted for the public to understand.

The DC stated that it was difficult for people to appreciate government programmes without properly understanding the benefit that it will bring to them.

Mr. Zulu added that it was for this reason that government workers in the district should take interest to know and understand all government programmes and projects that are being undertaken for the benefit of the members of the public that they serve.
