2014 FAZ/MTN league begins on March 1

The 2014 Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) MTN premier league will resume on the 1^st March, 2014.

The league will be preceded by the traditional opener of the Samuel “Zoom” Ndhlovu charity shield which will take place on the 1^st of February, 2014.

According to the FAZ website monitored by ZANIS sports, the league will begin with week one fixtures across all divisions countrywide.

However, week two fixtures will only be played on March 22, as the weekends of 8^th and 15^th February are reserved for the CAF Champions League preliminary round involving Nkana and Mbabane
Swallows of Swaziland.

Meanwhile, Nkana, Zesco United, Red Arrows and Nchanga Rangers are the four teams expected to compete in the Samuel “Zoom” Ndhlovu charity shield.

The teams will play double-header semi final games on 1^st February and later compete for the charity shield final on Saturday 22^nd February, 2014.

Defending champions Power Dynamos and runners up Zanaco will not participate in this year’s Charity shield because they failed to finish among the top four in last year’s FAZ/MTN league.
