Dad ‘killer’ appears in Mumbwa court

A 26 year-old man of Lusaka’s Libala township has appeared for mention in the Mumbwa Magistrate court for allegedly killing his father over pension money.

Emmanuel Kamchele, 26, a businessman , appeared before Mumbwa Magistrate Christopher Matipa this morning.

Particulars of the offence are that Emmanuel, on December 29, 2013 murdered Paul Tenfwe Kamuchele, who was his father.

And Public Prosecutor Mukela Mutanuka told the court that the police are processing the docket so that it is sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for instructions to commit the accused to the High Court.

The court has set January 27 2014 for another mention as it awaits further instructions from the DPP.

It is alleged that Emmanuel shot his father, a 55 year old retired Zambia Air Force soldier of  Mumbwa whom he alleged was very cruel to the family and wanted the surviving members to enjoy his retirement pension in peace without him.

The late Lieutenant Colonel Paul Kamuchele who retired last September was shot at three times in the head at a place between ZAF base and Mumbwa Boma .

The body of the deceased was later dumped him in the forest after the accused abandoned his vehicle at the Farmers Union premises.

Emmanuel led the Police to where he dumped his father’s body were it was found in a decomposed state last Monday and was buried the same evening after a post mortem was conducted.
