The Jesuit centre for theological reflections (JCTR) has observed that very little progress has been made in reducing poverty levels in the country.

JCTR Director Leonard Chiti has told Q-News in an interview that despite the pronouncements of job creations are being made, very few people of those who deserve them are benefiting.

Fr. Chiti notes that though efforts are being made in terms of road constructions, infrastructure development among other things, there has not been significant impact on the fight against poverty.

Fr. Chiti adds that the government should look for quick solutions to ensure that many Zambians that find hardships in making ends meet begin to enjoy the fruits that come out of the economic performance that the country continues to record every year.

Fr. Chiti also states that it is sad that very few people benefit from the economic performance of the country.

He notes that it is not too late for the patriotic front government to put its house in order and come up with new ways of reducing poverty levels.
