Sata in Mansa to drum up support for PF in by-election

PRESIDENT Sata has returned from Japan where he was attending the Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V).  The presidential challenger touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at about 13-15 hoursPRESIDENT Michael Sata is today expected in Mansa to drum up support for Patriotic Front candidate in Friday’s by-election Chitalu Chilufya.

According to a tentative programme released by Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo yesterday, the President is scheduled to address a rally in Mansa.

The Mansa Central seat fell vacant following the death of area MP Kennedy Sakeni who was also Information and Broadcasting Services minister.

Apart from Dr Chitalu, other candidates contesting the seat include Alfred Mwape of the Forum for Democracy and Development, United Party for National Development’s Rosemary Chikonde and Malama Kapolo of MMD.

Charles Mwelwa is contesting on the UNIP ticket.
