Two Zambia companies are among firms that have won bids to start prospecting for oil and gas reserves in various parts of the country.

Energy Minister Christopher Yaluma could however not mention the names of the two local firms.

And Mr Yaluma  has expressed optimism that oil and gas reserves will soon be found in Zambia.

He says this follows the positive indications shown by tests carried out so far.

Mr Yaluma has told ZNBC News in Malole constituency that the tender committee on Petroleum has received overwhelming response from companies that bid for oil and gas exploration works.

He says the prospects of oil and gas being found in the country are higher than at any time in Zambia’s history.
