Warriors 3 Power 0 –
KABWE Warriors yesterday thrashed struggling Power Dynamos in their delayed MTN-FAZ Premier Division League Week 17 match at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Ndola, leaving the 2011 champions simmering just above the relegation zone.
A first half eight-minute two-goal blitz by Larry Siakasipa and skipper Richard Kasonde put Warriors on the winning path in this fixture broadcast live on SuperSport Channel 209.
Siakasipa powered home a volley in the eighth minute, beating Power goalkeeper, Becky Bizangi at the far post.
The former Forest Rangers player’s wonder strike was eight minutes later followed up by a Kasonde goal. Mufulira referee, Bernard Chabala awarded Warriors a penalty after Bizangi pulled the legs of veteran Owen Mwendabai in the box and Kasonde stepped up to convert from the spot.
Another Warriors veteran, Musonda Mweuke delivered a final killer blow to Tenant Chilumba’s men with a back heel flick on 53 minutes when he turned in Siloni Jere’s cross in a goal-mouth scramble.
With Warriors assistant coach, Happy Sichikolo, who was last weekend sent off in Ndola, shouting out instructions to his ‘troops’ from the touchline, the 1987 league winners managed to thwart all threats posed by Power skipper, Francis Kombe and company.
Despite being reduced to 10 men on 86 minutes after Keagan Bwalya was red carded for a second bookable offence, Warriors still stood tall and condemned Power to their seventh loss of the season.
Warriors moved up to eighth on the table on 23 points with a better goal difference against Konkola Blades while Power dropped to 12th still on 20 points.
