Chilubi DC happy with rate of district development

Chilubi, July 10, ZANIS—Chilubi District Commissioner (DC) Boniface Kamanda has praised the government for constructing a modern secondary school, a district hospital and feeder roads in the area.

In an interview with ZANIS in Kasama today, Mr. Kamanda said the Rural Roads Unit (RRU) has
constructed Kasuba/Mumbo road and a bridge at a cost of K430, 000.

He added that embankments have since been constructed on Muyela, Chibiliti and Chaba bridges at a cost of K10 million.

Mr. Kamanda further said a doctor’s house is under construction at Chilubi rural health
centre and classroom blocks at Chipelembe and Kasuba Mumbo.

He however complained about low staffing levels and inadequate houses for workers who have difficulties in finding accommodation.

Mr. Kamanda disclosed that transport was another problem and has since appealed for quick completion of Luwingu/Nsombo and Luwingu/Chaba roads for easy mobility of people and transportation of goods and services in the area.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kamanda has expressed concern over crocodiles in Chilubi which have been killing and eating people for a long time now.

Mr. Kamanda revealed that government was constructing a house for a Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) officer who should help to crop the crocodiles on Lake Bangweulu.

He said crocodiles have been a terror to fishermen and women in the district where fishing was one of the main economic activities.
