PF receives mass defection in Solwezi

Solwezi, Jul 1/13,
ZANIS——-Some 1400 political cadres from the opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) and United Party for National Development (UPND) in solwezi district have defected to join the ruling Patriot Front (PF).

Receiving the defectors in Solwezi today North-western Provincial Minister, Nathaniel Mubukwanu, said the mass defection is a sign of people’s growing confidence in the PF
government under the leadership of President Michael Sata.

Mr Mubukwanu said the decision taken by the defectors to ditch the opposition MMD and UPND is not misplaced as they have joined a progressive party which is a sign and beckon of hope for the future development of the country.

He said Zambia will not lag behind in terms of social and economic development because the PF government is using politics not for personal gain but to improve the lives of ordinary Zambians unlike the former MMD regime.

Mr Mubukwanu urged PF members in the province to continue recruiting more new members so as to strengthen the party.

PF Solwezi District chairperson, Yobe Banda, said the ruling party is gaining ground in the province as people have started seeing the PF delivering on its campaign promises.

Mr Banda commended the defectors for taking a bold decision to join PF and work with government of the day in developing the province.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former MMD Provincial chairlady, Joyce Sibande said
they have decided to join the PF because they want to work with the government of the day to develop the nation as the opposition has nothing to offer the people.
