Mansa, June 25, ZANIS—- President Michael Sata has paid tribute to the late Father Osward Chansa who served as Director of Communications for Mansa Diocese and Yangeni Community Radio Station.

The President in a speech read on his behalf by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Services who is also Chief Government Spokesman Kennedy Sakeni during the funeral service of the late father in Mansa yesterday said the late Priest devotedly served the Catholic Church, the Christian community and the country through his exemplary service as a priest.

He said his services will be greatly missed as he was also the Coordinator for the Churches Health Association of Zambia and one of the early pioneers of private and independent radio broadcasting in Zambia.

President Sata said the late father Chansa will be remembered for the immense contributions he made towards the establishment and good service delivery of Radio Yangeni which was a task he diligently fulfilled and never boasted about it.

He said Father Chansa was a great but humble disciple whose deeds will forever be remembered as he was an objective person whose counsel was coveted by those in religious and statutory authority who from time to time solicited his advice on numerous issues.

President Sata added that discipline and moral uprightness were a way of life for the late priest who inspired many of his followers and the Catholic faithful.

The President said the passing on of Sister Katebe of the same Parish few days earlier was a tragic loss for the Parish but the Catholic faithful should continue with the work which the two have left behind in their callings as missionaries.

He said father Chansa was a great priest and sister Katebe was a devoted Nun and filling their void will be a difficult task because they were uniquely gifted people.

He added that the duo were crowned jewels of faith, leadership and hard work that were rare to find or groom.

President Sata implored the Catholic faithful to present their anguish and sorrow to God for his guidance and consolation.

He said the works of the late father and the Num should not go with them but should serve as a mirror for development in all spheres of life.

Father Chansa passed away on June 20, 2013 and was buried yesterday while sister Katebe who passed away on June 19, 2013 and was buried on Sunday.
