Airtel Zambia has expanded its footprint of internet roaming partners, which stood at 112 last year, to 141 data roaming partners with 378 voice roaming partners.

AIRTEL Managing Director, Charity Lumpa said the move will enable customers to use their Airtel SIM cards in more than 300 networks across the globe and roam in key destinations which now include Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

Ms. Lumpa said customers will also enjoy the benefits that come from being part of the telecommunications service provider footprint in other markets which include calling at local rates in all countries where Airtel is a holding.

She said Airtel will continue to bring forth innovations and products that benefit its customers by expanding its footprints to more countries and regions as well as ensuring that customers are well connected.

She explained that roaming was a general term referring to the extension of connectivity services in a location that is different from the home location where the service was registered.

Ms. Lumpa said that roaming ensures that the wireless device is kept connected to the network without losing the connection when Zambia Airtel customers travel abroad.

She said among many countries and networks, Airtel Zambia operation has data roaming arrangements which includes the T-mobile USA, Du of United Arab Emirates, Orange of Switzerland and Vodafone which is also available in most African countries.

This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by Airtel Network Zambia Corporate Communications desk.
