GBM in US for security meeting

MINISTER of Defence Geoffrey Mwamba is in the United States of America for a high level 14-day defence and security seminar.
The seminar has been organised by the Africa Centre for Strategic Studies.
This is according to a statement released on Saturday by First Secretary for press at the Zambian Embassy in Washington Patricia Littiya.
Ms Littiya said Mr Mwamba, who is attending the 2013 Senior Leaders seminar, will be among other leaders from around Africa attending the congress.
Mr Mwamba, who is accompanied by a team of other defense leaders, will discuss among other issues, security and economic development in Africa.
The senior leaders’ seminar, which runs from June 16-28, will also discuss the rule of law and democratic governance, the state of civil-military relations in Africa and conflicts and conflict resolution.
Other topics include emerging security threats such as climate change, pollution and disaster response.
