Kalabo business community challenged to support sport disciplines

–Youth and Sport Deputy Minister, Chinga Miyutu, has called on the business community in Kalabo district to help develop various sports disciplines in the district.

Speaking when he officiated at the inter-schools zones sports competitions in Kalabo, Mr Miyutu, who is also UPND Kalabo Central Member of Parliament, said government should be supplemented by the business community in developing sporting activities.

He stressed that Kalabo district will only stand out when the business community partners with the state in developing sports.

The Deputy Minister said government attaches great importance to the promotion of sports and talent search in the country.

Mr Miyutu said government has realised that some people have made a livelihood out of sports, hence the commitment by the state to promoting sports in the country.

He cited Airtel as one of the companies that have joined hands with government in searching for talent among the youth country wide.

Mr Miyutu said the business community should emulate Airtel and promote sports in Kalabo district.

He also appealed to schools in Kalabo to form football clubs and have them registered so that the clubs can access funds from the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

The MP urged the schools in Kalabo to take advantage of the offer by FAZ and benefit like other districts elsewhere.

And speaking earlier at the same function Kalabo District Schools Sports Association Chairperson, Mwaba Subulwa, thanked the deputy minister for gracing the function.

Mr Subulwa implored the pupils to exhibit high levels of discipline during the zone games.
