—A senior citizen in Ndola has called on government to call for a national indaba to help people understand the removal of maize and fuel subsidies.

Humphrey Ngulube, a retired teacher, told ZANIS in an interview in Ndola today that government should listen to the cries of the people about the issues of the removal of subsidies as they have not understood the concept properly.

Mr Ngulube said indabas are healthy for a nation as people pour out their opinions, adding that they feel part of those whom government can trust.

He said there was need, therefore, for a national indaba to be convened for all political parties, all concerned stakeholders and government in order to discuss pertinent issues that have rocked the country on the withdrawal of maize and fuel subsidies.

He also commended the Copperbelt University for its research and discussions on the removal of fuel subsidies.
